Commonly referred to as a ‘rain gutter,’ eavestroughs are narrow channels (troughs) that sit at the edge of your roof to collect rainwater. Eavestroughs divert rainwater away from the roof’s edge to protect your home’s foundation.

The rainwater is fed via a downspout (also called leader, conductor or downpipe) where is it discharged or collected into a rain barrel. Soffit is tucked under a fascia board keeping condensation from rainwater from forming on the roof. Condensation can cause roofing materials to decay and without a soffit board under the fascia board, your roof is at risk during heavy downpours if not properly ventilated.
